On August 27, at 9:00 a.m. our efforts to build a house in honor of Pope Francis officially began with the Ground-Blessing by Bishop Mark J. Seitz and the Ground-Breaking with dignitaries from the El Paso Diocese and El Paso City Hall. The site selected is at 6993 Jericho Tree located in Northeast El Paso in the Mesquite Hills area. A family has been qualified and approved for the home: David and Socorro Vasquez who have 3 children. Construction will commence in late September and continue till completion - anticipated before Thanksgiving. On hand were artists that painted shovels to commemorate the event. These shovels will be auctioned at the home dedication planned for November. Many volunteers are signing up to help on the project including support from the business community and building trades.
